The Gay Lady Variety Hall & Saloon

The gambling in this town has long been contested between The Palace and The Long Branch. That is, until Burton Lumley came to town from New Orleans a year ago.  He opened the Gay Lady and its popularity has soared.  Burton, a true showman, works the floor along with a trio of dancing girls he brought from the Big Easy – Singer Madge Dupree and showgirls Julia Barbeaux and Fibi LeFarge. Burt also brought along his pianoman – Pepe Diderot.  The result is the best floor show in town. Pepe and the girls live on the second floor along with Jim Corbett, the full time muscle. The bartender is Jim Hagen, with Big John Sullivan filling in as either bartender or muscle, either as a replacement on slow nights or as extra help on busy ones.

The gaming is run by two professional gamblers – Herbert Leomis runs the faro table and Cisco Haselton runs the poker table. Each pay 20% to the house for protection.
